Salary$4,243.00 per month
Position OverviewVocational Rehabilitation Specialist (VRS) I is a trainee level. The incumbent is expected to progress to the higher VRS levels as outlined in the VRS training plan. The primary purpose of this trainee position is to learn the basics of the vocational rehabilitation program and casework process, and to assist individuals who are deaf, deaf‑blind, or hard of hearing through the various stages of the rehabilitation process under close supervision.
Responsibilities- Perform or be authorized to perform direct counseling services as specified in the State Plan for Vocational Rehabilitation Services.
- Assist clients with casework processes, including assessment, diagnosis, and evaluation of cases.
- Participate in training and operational requirements to progress to the VRS II level.
- Adhere to the division’s operational training plan regarding requirements and timeliness for reallocation.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Enrollment or acceptance into a Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling program accredited by CACREP, with requirement to complete half of the coursework by the time of promotion to VRS II.
- Progression to VRS III level requires completion of the second half of the Master’s coursework and certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC).
- Ability to meet Personnel Standards and Personnel Development Requirements.
