Founded in 1921, Straub Medical Center includes a 159‑bed hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai‘i. With over 200 physicians who are leaders in their fields, Straub provides its patients with diagnoses and treatments for more than 32 different medical specialties, including bone and joint, heart, cancer, endocrinology/diabetes, family medicine, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, internal medicine, vascular and urology.
Straub is home to the Pacific Region’s only multidisciplinary burn treatment center. The hospital consistently brings new technologies and innovative medical practices to Hawai‘i, such as minimally invasive cardiac surgery and total joint replacement.
The Pharmacy department is responsible for compounding and dispensing pharmaceuticals, supplies, medications and large‑to‑small volume parenterals, as well as providing drug information and education. We strive to ensure that our patients and clients receive safe and effective medication by applying the highest standards of modern pharmaceutical care.
Lead Pharmacy Technician– Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the coordination and supervision of the daily operations of the department, including setting work schedules and workload priorities.
- Fill routine orders, compound various IVs and perform other technical and clerical duties.
- Ensure the Pharmacy department provides quality pharmaceutical knowledge and services to patients and their families.
- Maintain a strong sense of quality control and integrity, delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.

Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Hawai‘i Pharmacy Technician registration.
- Three (3) years of hospital pharmacy experience.
- Graduate from an accredited pharmacy technician training program.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
- One (1) year lead experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting.
