. Founded in 1921, Straub Benioff Medical Center includes a 159-bed hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai‘i. With over 200 physicians leading in their fields, Straub provides diagnoses and treatments for more than 32 different medical specialties, including bone and joint, heart, cancer, endocrinology/diabetes, family medicine, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, internal medicine, vascular and urology.
Straub is home to the Pacific Region’s only multidisciplinary burn treatment center. The hospital consistently adopts new technologies such as minimally invasive cardiac surgery and total joint replacement.
The Resource Team provides comprehensive patient care in an assigned facility, covering for regular staff members who are unable to attend their normal positions. The Resource Team offers clinical and nursing support and enables members to float to various areas in Surgery and the clinics. As a Medical Assistant, you will join a dedicated team of physicians and medical staff that provide compassionate health services to patients and their families. In this role, you will perform a wide variety of patient care activities within the Resource Team department. We are looking for someone detail‑oriented, attentive, with strong communication and patient‑care skills and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.

Minimum QualificationsHigh school or equivalent. Completion of a Medical Assistant Program and/or equivalent experience. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), OR Assessment Based Recognition in Order Entry (A
-OE) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Medical Technologist (AMT), OR Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency testing (NCCT), OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from American Registry of Medical Assistants, OR Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) from National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), OR Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) from the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from the National Health career Association (NHA).
Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card. Must be able to complete departmental competency assessment by conclusion of orientation period.
Six (6) months medical assistant experience. Knowledge of Classification Procedural Terminology (CPT) and/or International Classification of Disease (ICD‑10) coding. Experience with electronic medical records.
