Location and Facility

Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, HI (Kapolei, Hawaii).

This position is located within the Department of Family Medicine Warrior Ohana Clinic, a 450‑bed Level II Trauma facility that partners with civilian hospitals to provide care for non‑beneficiary trauma victims.

Responsibilities
  • Serves as a Clinical Psychologist Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) for the Clinic and Behavioral Health System of Care (BHSOC) Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) program. Makes mental health diagnoses per DSM; provides individual and group treatment using brief problem‑focused interventions, CBT, psycho educational classes, and other modalities.
  • Assesses acute mental‑health and behavioral‑medicine conditions, documents care per SOPs, and maintains professional ethics.
  • Provides treatment for a wide range of chronic medical conditions, conducts PCBH biopsychosocial evaluations, and delivers evidence‑based interventions for anxiety, depression, PTSD, insomnia, pain, diabetes, weight management, substance use, and related areas.
  • Participates in quality assurance, consultation to physicians, feedback to Primary Care Managers, and uses objective outcome measures.
  • Manages treatment plans, consults with primary‑care providers, educates staff, and approves referral sources and community resources.
  • Executes performance initiatives, ensures compliance with Joint Commission requirements, and monitors risk management.
  • Provides training and professional development, coordinates inter‑departmental in‑service training, and evaluates program effectiveness.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens.

To qualify, you must meet the following educational and experience requirements:

  • Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in clinical psychology.
  • One year of specialized experience (GS‑12 level) including developing treatment plans, administering psychological assessments, and managing data for reports and SOPs.
  • Valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice psychology in a U.S. state, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.
  • Resume must describe relevant experience; transcripts may be required for education-based qualifications.
