Patient Registrar – Honolulu

About the Role

The Patient Registrar is the first person to interact with patients and families, representing Shriners’ customer service values through intake, scheduling, and coordination of patient care. The registrar also supports coordination across departments to enable wraparound care. Confidentiality of patient records is required at all times. This is a full‑time, non‑exempt position with benefits available. Pay range: $18.54–$27.81/hour, determined by experience and departmental equity.

Responsibilities
  • Confirm patient insurance verification and eligibility
  • Monitor patient appointments and information
  • Maintain patient rights by educating patients
  • Respond to patient and family complaints
  • Assemble patient medical record forms and prepare identification
  • Maintain patient flow and update waiting patients
  • Cancel appointments for patients and document accordingly in EMR
  • Obtain patient information from new and established patients
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum two (2) years clerical experience
  • Experience using MS Office Suite
  • Familiarity with medical and insurance terminology and local community resources
  • Must be able to use standard office equipment (phone, computer, copier, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and telephone etiquette to interact with staff, patients, families, agencies, and visitors; must communicate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Attention to detail and data entry
