We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as the Controller for a Nonprofit Organization. This dynamic role is an integral part of our Accounting and Finance division, offering an exciting opportunity to lead and manage all financial aspects of our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for grant accounting, financial planning, budgeting, and risk management, among other duties.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong emphasis on Grant Accounting, Financial Operations & Compliance and Nonprofit GAAP Accounting/Financial Reporting.

Responsibilities

Oversee all financial operations and direct corporate financial planning and structure.

Coordinate, analyze, and report financial performance to management and the board, including projections and special projects.

Prepare short‑ and long‑term financial forecasts for internal management and external parties.

Oversee audit and tax functions, coordinate activities with outside audit firms, and review their performance.

Develop, implement, and maintain accounting and administrative policies and procedures for a wide-ranging set of activities, including financial accounting and reporting, employee relations (hiring/terminating policies), and other corporate policies.

Maintain proficiency in all aspects of corporate accounting and all pertinent GAAP, SEC rules and regulations, including Sarbanes‑Oxley compliance.

Be responsible for corporate and HR activities, including employee benefits, retirement plans, corporate insurance, and related activities coordinated across satellite offices.

Manage the budget process for the firm and other legal entity budgets and costs.

Manage all aspects of grant accounting, ensuring compliance with funding source guidelines, timely revenue receipt, accurate submission of financial reports, audit compliance, and comprehensive backup documentation.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A Master’s degree or CPA is highly desirable.

Minimum of five years of experience in financial management roles with a focus on grant accounting.

Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost‑control principles, including GAAP.

Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.

Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations, and experience with external auditors, internal controls, and compliance issues.

Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Experience in a senior financial‑management role partnering with executive staff, leading to the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and executive presence, and the ability to motivate staff.
