The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 3pm-12am HST. Due to operational needs the schedule is subject to change.
Role SummaryThe Engineer - Powerplant (AOG) provides world-class customer service while keeping safety and compliance the top priorities. This individual contributor position is a primary power plant engineer in support of any current / imminent aircraft on the ground or potential operational impact avoidance activities for Alaska Airlines.
Key Duties Associate (P1)- Contributes to the application and management the Alaska ETOPS and APU on-demand programs.
- Contributes to the application and management of the Engine Condition Monitoring Program.
- Assists Maintenance and Technical Services teams with troubleshooting for resolution to systemic / chronic power plant issues, minimizing aircraft downtime for unscheduled maintenance.
- Reviews all original equipment manufacturer (OEM) recommendations (SBs, SLs, etc.) Applicable to the fleet.
- Under direction of the Manager or Fleet Powerplant Engineer, authors engineering control (EC) documents (engineering orders and authorizations, fleet campaigns, etc.) to direct the incorporation of modifications, improvements, and disposition of line troubleshooting and shop requests.
- Learns to collaborate with the Fleet Powerplant Engineers and cross-divisional teams (e.g., records, planning, line maintenance, engine build-up shop, QC, flight operations, technical publications, etc.), ensuring efficient implementation of released EC documents.
- Seeks to understand all available information (e.g., AS operational data, OEM engineering data, other operators shared information, etc.) to continually improve the safe and efficient operation of the installed Powerplant(s).
- Authors AS‑specific engineering data for inclusion into the ICAs (manuals) for configuration control and required maintenance actions with supervision.
- Contributes to the reliability program. Learns power plant and fleet initiatives and work closely with power plant fleet engineers to support reliability initiatives.
- Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, off hours and rotating shifts.
- Must be willing to infrequently travel to support AOG aircraft and technicians.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Works independently within the team to manage the Alaska ETOPS and APU on-demand programs.
- Works Independently within the team to manage of the Engine Condition Monitoring Program.
