Position Summary

Chaminade University of Honolulu seeks a qualified candidate to fill a position of Visiting Lecturer/Program Coordinator to oversee the Bachelor of Science in Public Health and future public health programs. This onsite position is based in Honolulu, HI within the School of Nursing and Health Professions. The Public Health Program Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and administrative oversight for the BSPH academic programs.

The role supports program growth, accreditation readiness, curriculum alignment, faculty development, student support, and community partnership engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach the required workload credits per semester as assigned.
  • Actively participate in division and university related activities and committees, the accreditation process, curriculum development, and scholarship.
  • Adhere to duties as described in the Faculty Handbook.
  • Develop a professional development plan and demonstrate a trajectory that promotes scholarship, community service and life‑long learning.
  • Remain current in latest industry practices, standards, equipment, research, and technology.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Deans of the School of Nursing and Health Professions.
  • Serve as the Public Health Program Coordinator.
Program Coordinator Responsibilities
  • Provision or delegation of responsibilities to assure year‑round coverage of coordinator responsibilities in the absence of the coordinator or when the coordinator’s full‑time appointment does not cover all 12 months.
  • Provide strategic direction and operational oversight for the Public Health academic programs.
  • Coordinate activities across faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
  • Oversee program evaluation, continuous quality improvement, and reporting.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor the program budget.
  • Lead program accreditation efforts, including research, planning, and documentation preparation for accreditation (e.g., CEPH).
  • Develop policies and procedures for effectively managing all components of the program and to ensure fair, equitable and considerate treatment of prospective and enrolled students.
  • Maintain records of complaints about the program received from students or others.
Curriculum Management & Academic Planning
  • Lead curriculum review, revision, and implementation, updating PLOs, CLOs, and course sequencing.
  • Submit program changes and curriculum proposals to the Curriculum Committee, FAAW Committee, and Academic Counsel.
  • Update degree requirements, minors, and course information per university guidelines.
  • Build and update BSPH courses in Canvas.
  • Coordinate FLEX program planning, orientation, and faculty hiring for FLEX courses.
  • Meet regularly with Advising and Admissions teams to align program curriculum with recruitment and retention needs.
Faculty, Hiring, & Development
  • Plan and lead Public Health faculty meetings and advisory board meetings.
  • Hire, interview, and onboard new Public Health faculty.
  • Train faculty on university systems.
  • Mentor new BSPH faculty.
  • Provide ongoing faculty support.
  • Ensure textbooks are ordered each term.
  • Serve as faculty advisor to Public Health students, offering guidance on course planning and academic success.
  • Assist with practicum preparation and manage student concerns.
