Lecturer applicant pool for future semesters; temporary, part‑time work, as needed, contingent upon student enrollment, position availability and funding. May be for day, evening, or weekend offerings on‑and off‑campus. Selectee is required to complete the COE New Faculty orientation in the first year and pass a criminal background check and Title IX training.
- Coordinate field placements with principals and teachers.
- Supervise, mentor and evaluate students in field‑based settings in secondary classrooms.
- Conduct field experience seminars and student teaching seminars.
- Evaluate candidates' lesson plans and field‑based program assignments.
- Conduct midterm and end‑of‑semester conferences.
- Participate in collaborative relationships with mentor teachers, school administrators, and staff.
- Provide service to the department, university and broader community.
- Earned master’s degree in Education, or equivalent combination of graduate education and experience.
- Working knowledge of national content standards, Hawaii Content and Performance Standards III, InTASC Standards, and Common Core Standards.
- Three years full‑time K‑12 classroom teaching experience, as teacher of record, with at least two years of K‑6 teaching experience, as teacher of record.
- Experience working with various student populations.
- Successful post‑secondary teaching experience.
- Experience working with native Hawaiian populations.
- Experience teaching on‑line courses.
- Experience with school/university partnerships.
- Experience mentoring students in field settings.
- Experience in field‑based, standards‑based teacher education.
- Experience working with special education students and/or multilingual learners.
