For placement into the lecturer pool beginning Fall 2026. Subject to availability of funds and actual staffing requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction to students in the classroom, clinical laboratory, and clinical setting.
  • Identify the learning needs of students.
  • Collaborate with health care facilities for learning experiences to fulfill student learning outcomes of the program.
  • Provide clinical instruction at long‑term care, sub‑acute, ambulatory, and/or acute clinical sites.
  • Evaluate student competence based on program philosophy and student learning outcomes.
  • Prepare student progress reports.
  • Create a clinical environment that fosters students’ academic growth and guides their professional development.
  • Attend faculty meetings at least once a semester.
  • Perform other teaching‑related duties that include, but are not limited to, preparing course syllabi, maintaining office hours for academic advising, or conferring with students about coursework.

Regular work schedule is Monday through Friday but may include evenings and weekends, continuing education classes, distance education classes, and teaching at off‑campus sites.

Non‑Teaching Duties
  • Work collegially to provide service to the department and college.
  • Engage in public service related to one's professional status and/or expertise.
  • Engage in professional development and professional or scholarly activities related to one's discipline or teaching.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in Science in Nursing (BSN); at least three years of hospital experience in one of the areas of teaching responsibility (preferably within the last five years) and RN eligible for Hawaii State License.
  • Master’s in Science in Nursing (MSN); at least one year of hospital experience in one of the areas of teaching responsibility (preferably within the last five years) and RN eligible for Hawaii State License.
  • Desirable Qualifications
    • Education or experience in curriculum development, evaluation, or teaching methods.
    • Evidence of successful teaching in a college setting.
    • Experience working with a diverse, multi‑ethnic student population.
    • Ability to instruct using multimedia resources and computer literate.
    • No restrictions to conducting clinical in acute care facilities on O’ahu.
    • Recent clinical experience in areas of teaching assignments.
    • Ability to assess community nursing needs and develop short‑term courses designed to meet identified needs.
