Location: UH at Manoa

Full Time/Part Time: Part-time

Temporary/Permanent: Temporary

Lecturers needed to teach the following courses this Summer 2026:

BIOL 331:
Marine Mammal Biology (3 cr), Summer Session 1 May 26, 2026-July 2, 2026

Overview of marine mammal science, significance and roles of marine mammals in their ecosystems, and marine conservation issues. Current research topics in marine mammal sciences will also be covered.

Pre: C (not C-) or better in BIOL 171/BIOL
171L, BIOL 172/BIOL 172L, and BIOL 265; or consent.

General Education Designation(s): DB

Minimum Qualifications

Available to teach during the entire summer session 1, May 26-July 2, 2026; MS degree or advancement to candidacy in a PhD degree in Biology or related field;
Knowledge of marine mammal biology

Desirable Qualifications
  • Previous college-level teaching experience
  • online teaching experience
  • demonstrated teaching proficiency
  • strong scientific writing skills
  • demonstrated organizational skills
  • PhD in Biology or related field
Duties and Responsibilities

Teach course(s) and/or associated lab sections for the duration of the session: preparing and delivering lectures, writing and grading exams and other assessments, meeting with students outside of class time. Additional course-related duties.

BIOL 172:
Introduction to Biology (3 cr), Summer Session 2 July 6, 2026-August 14, 2026

Anatomy, physiology, and systematics of plants and animals; behavior; ecosystems, populations, and communities.

Pre: CHEM (131, 151, 161, 171, or 181A) or concurrent, and BIOL 172L (or concurrent), or consent.

General Education Designation(s): DB

Minimum Qualifications

Available to teach during the second summer session, July 6-Aug 14, 2026; MS degree or advancement to candidacy in a PhD degree in Biology or related field;
Knowledge of general biology

Desirable Qualifications
  • Previous college-level teaching experience
  • online teaching experience
  • demonstrated teaching proficiency
  • strong scientific writing skills
  • demonstrated organizational skills
  • PhD in Biology or related field
