Swim Instructor; Private Contractor

Pili Kai Swim School is expanding to West Oʻahu and seeking a caring, reliable Swim Instructor to serve families in Kapolei and surrounding areas. This is an independent contractor (1099) role ideal for instructors who enjoy working with children, value flexibility, and want consistent lesson opportunities close to home.

As a Swim Instructor with Pili Kai Swim School, you will provide private and semi‑private swim lessons primarily for children (including some students with special needs), with occasional adult lessons. Lessons take place at residential and community pools within the Kapolei / West Oʻahu area.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Lives in or near Kapolei / West Oʻahu
• Connects well with keiki and families
• Provides safe, patient, and engaging instruction

(Examples: Kapolei, ʻEwa, Makakilo, and nearby communities)

Applicants should be based on the West side and comfortable traveling within this zone.

• Teach private and semi‑private lessons with a focus on water safety and confidence
• Adapt instruction for different skill levels, ages, and learning needs
• Communicate professionally with families and the Pili Kai team
• Travel to lesson locations within the designated zone

• Paid via a revenue‑share independent contractor model
• Rates vary based on experience, certifications, and lesson type
• Consistent lesson opportunities as demand grows in West Oʻahu

• Set your own availability
• No required minimum hours

• Swim instruction experience strongly preferred
• Comfortable working with children (experience with special‑needs students is a plus)
• Current CPR/AED & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Ability to maintain your own liability insurance (general & professional; abuse/molestation coverage)
