The School of Life Sciences (SoLS), College of Natural Sciences, University of Hawai'i at Manoa (Honolulu, Hawai'i) invites applicants for the position of Instructor in the Marine Biology undergraduate program. With over 600 students, Marine Biology is one of the largest majors at UHM.
This is a temporary, non-tenure track, full-time, 9-month, faculty appointment, to begin January2, 2026, subject to position clearance, availability of funds, and program needs. Review of applications will begin on May 01, 2025 and will continue until the position is filled.

Duties:
- Teaching 12-credits (or equivalent) per semester, including Biology of the Invertebrates (BIOL 485+485L), Marine Ecology and Evolution (BIOL 301+301L), Advanced Topics in Marine Biology (BIOL 404) and other undergraduate classes in the Marine Biology program.
- Participate in SoLS committees and events as appropriate.
- Perform related tasks as assigned
- A Master's degree in Marine Biology, or related discipline, from a college or university of recognized standing, with the major work in the field in which the instructional assignment is made or duties performed
- Evidence of ability to teach effectively and to direct group discussions
- Professionalism in meeting and conferring with others
- Ph.D. in Marine Biology, or related discipline, (or closely related discipline),
- A proven track record of effective course instruction in lower and upper-division marine biology courses at the university level,
- Experience teaching high enrollment (>60) lecture courses with multiple lab sections,
- Experience teaching students of varied backgrounds
