Conditions:

Contingent on course offerings and student demand, to begin approximately Spring 2026, pending position clearance, availability of funds, and actual staffing requirements. Positions may be converted from 11 to 9 months or 9 to 11 months based on operational needs.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Under general supervision, design, deliver, and assess instruction in Radiologic Technology in terms of student-learning outcomes; develop and/or update course content and materials and teaching and assessment strategies and methods to:

  • improve student attainment of learning outcomes;

  • address the learning needs of the college's diverse students;

  • integrate thinking and writing skills into course content, as appropriate; and

  • use technology to support instruction.

  • Plan, organize, and independently carry out independent instructional and non-instructional assignments.

  • Perform other teaching-related duties that include, but are not limited to, preparing course syllabi and maintaining office hours for academic advising and for conferring with students about course work (one office hour per week per three-credit class).

  • Regular workload may include evening and weekend classes, continuing-education classes, distance-education classes, and teaching at off-campus sites.

  • Non-teaching duties include:

  • working collegially to provide service to the department and college,

  • engaging in public service related to one's professional status and/or expertise,

  • engaging in professional development, and

  • engaging in professional or scholarly activities related to one's discipline or teaching.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree in any field AND

  • Documents eight hours per week of clinical experience in Radiologic Technology for two years; and is qualified to teach Radiologic Technology; and is knowledgeable of course development, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising AND

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists current registration in radiography or equivalent plus current Hawai‘i State licensure

Note:

  • Minimum qualifications must be met by the effective date of appointment.

  • If qualified applicants are not available, others will be considered on an Acting Instructor basis.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Successful teaching at the post-secondary level, as substantiated by student and peer assessments;

  • Evidence of ability to work in a collegial manner with peers, department chairs, and administrators;

  • Evidence of experience integrating writing, technology, and thinking skills in the teaching of Radiologic Technology;

  • Ability to write clear prose as substantiated by writing samples;

  • Successful use of technology to support instruction inside and outside of the traditional classroom;

  • Commitment to the mission and values of the community college with its open-door and multicultural populations;

  • Ability to initiate, execute, and complete projects, including setting specific objectives and measuring results.
