DescriptionThis posting is used to fill various Educational Assistant positions at Fern Elementary. Authorized level is Educational Assistant III. Applications are accepted down to Educational Assistant I in case of recruiting difficulties.
Salary Range- Educational Assistant I: $3,019.78 per month
- Educational Assistant II: $3,260.76 per month
- Educational Assistant III: $3,526.98 per month
- In a classroom setting, independently performs a variety of academic and non‑academic instructional tasks in accordance with established guidelines and resources.
- Provides paraprofessional support to students with disabilities, assists special and general education teachers in delivering educational and behavioral interventions. May independently deliver academic, social, vocational, and daily living instruction to students with disabilities in school or community settings, adjusting to individual needs.
- Serves as a paraprofessional assistant in delivering counseling support services; participates on the school support team and provides intervening activities prescribed for reducing a student’s specific academic, behavioral, or social needs.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent AND one of the following:
- 48 semester credits of baccalaureate level courses from an accredited institution, including at least 3 math and 3 English credits.
- Associate in Arts (AA) or Science (AS) degree or higher from an accredited institution, including a minimum of 48 credits at the baccalaureate level.
- Successful completion of the Para Pro Assessment (ETS).
- Educational Assistant I: 0 years general, 0 years specialized.
- Educational Assistant II: 1 year general, 0 years specialized.
- Educational Assistant III: 1 year general, 1 year specialized.
One year of general or specialized experience equals approximately 180 teacher duty days.
Driver’s License RequirementSome positions require possession of a current, valid driver’s license.
Lift and Carry RequirementSome positions require the ability to lift up to 65 pounds and/or lift and carry up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Allowed Substitutions of Education for Experience- Certificate of Completion in Child Services or related program may replace one‑half year of general experience.
- Associate in Science in Teacher Aide, Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Education may replace one‑half year of general experience with fifteen semester credits.
- Associate in Science with practicum may replace general and specialized experience with fifteen semester credits.
- Associate in Science with practicum may replace all general and specialized experience requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year institution may replace general experience with fifteen semester credits.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education may replace all general and specialized experience requirements.
- Professional Diploma in Education may replace all general and specialized experience requirements.
Possession of the required number of years of experience will not be accepted as proof of qualification. Overall experience must demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Supplemental Information SalaryThe advertised salary is for full‑time employment and includes shortages and school year differentials, if applicable.

Temporary positions may be extended year to year, depending on funding and departmental needs. Successful completion of an initial six‑month probation may make employees eligible for permanent roles.
