II. Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Professions.

III. Position Summary

The responsibilities of this position are comprised of teaching in assigned courses in the Community & Public Health curriculum. The Adjunct Faculty is expected to remain current in the discipline and pedagogy. The Adjunct Faculty is also expected to participate actively in curriculum delivery, development, and assessment. The Adjunct Faculty will hold regular office hours in support of students.

IV. Duties And Responsibilities

  • Meet faculty responsibilities as described by Chaminade University’s Policy Manual IV.
  • Support policies as stated in the Chaminade School of Nursing and Health Professions Student Handbook and in course syllabi.
  • Participate in meetings related to the course(s) being taught.
  • Maintain high standards and promote excellence in education.
  • Demonstrate ongoing professional competency by seeking new knowledge, improving teaching skills, and remaining current in the academic discipline.
  • Adhere to duties as described in the Faculty Handbook.
  • Develop a professional development plan and demonstrates a trajectory that promotes scholarship, community service and life-long learning.
  • Remain current in the latest industry practices, standards, equipment, research, and technology.
  • Any other Duties as assigned by the Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Professions.

VI. Qualifications



Minimum Education

Master’s or terminal degree in public health, community health, or a closely related field

from a regionally accredited college or university.

VII. Experience And Skills

  • Experience teaching in an Institute of Higher Education.
  • Demonstrate and encourage critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrate and maintain a professional relationship with administration, faculty, staff, and students. Communicate clearly with administration, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Serve as a professional role model for students.
  • Proficient in the use of technology to support both in class and online learning environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body at all levels of the university.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, learning management systems (e.g. Canvas), and other programs related to teaching, learning, advising, and assessment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and resources.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • High integrity and ethical standards.
VIII.

Physical Requirements

Duties involve light work in an office and community setting and requires a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines.
