Dental Hygienist

Primary Purpose

Perform a variety of dental hygiene duties to promote quality dental care.

Clinical Services:

• Perform all phases of Dental Hygiene with accordance to the State board.
• Counsel with patients regarding conditions treatment and maintenance.
• Educate patients in oral hygiene.
• Promote preventive recall.
• Take radiographs (conventional and digital).
• Facilitate referrals to specialists.
• Apply fissure sealants.
• Document all oral conditions.
• Monitor periodontal condition on a regular basis (probing depths, etc.).
• Develop tentative treatment plan for dentist to review.
• Follow OSHA and CDC guidelines for infection control.

• Follow templates and document all procedures and conditions in Dentrix.
• Participate in peer review, chart audit and case presentation.

Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Observe safety and security procedures; determine appropriate actions beyond guidelines; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.

Current Hawaii Dental Hygiene License or Community Service Dental Hygiene License required.

CPR certification required.

Fluent in Chinese language preferred.

Diploma from a U. S. accredited Dental Hygiene school required.

1 year of experience in public health setting (in any capacity) preferred.
