Position: Telephone Operator II (Work hours: Sat (0700-1630); Sun/Holiday (0700 to 1430)

Overview

Position Title: Telephone Operator II

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Safety Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides efficient telecommunications services to the REHAB hospital staff, patients, and the community by providing accurate switchboard service and in a courteous, friendly and professional manner in directing phone calls to the appropriate department and services. Assists with coordination of emergency responses by following established protocols of the facility security regulations. Maintains daily reports and information for the facility.

Starting Wage: $16.26/hour. The posted wage is the current starting wage for this position. Actual wage is dependent on the applicant's relevant experience and qualifications for this position. The wage range for this position may be subject to change in the future depending on a variety of factors such as market conditions, business needs, legal developments, and other appropriate factors.

Responsibilities

The following summarizes the primary responsibilities of the Telephone Operator II:

Provide efficient switchboard services and direct calls to the appropriate department and services. Maintain courteous, professional communication with staff, patients, and the community. Assist with coordination of emergency responses by following facility security regulations and established protocols. Maintain daily reports and information for the facility.

Qualifications
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Skills/

    Experience:

    Work experience in answering calls, forwarding calls to departments, taking and relaying messages appropriately while working with the general public, vendors, employees, etc.
  • Ability: Type and communicate effectively via telephone and in person.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Familiarity with hospital terminology (e.g. CODE 500, RACE).
