Position Function

The Product Manager (Deposits) is responsible for all matters pertaining to the end-to-end process for each of the deposit (and deposit-related) products, services fees, and miscellaneous fees. Products and services include, but are not limited to, consumer and business checking and savings accounts, certificates of deposit, overdraft privilege, and value-added packages. The Product Manager develops and enhances the bank’s retail product line through market assessment (external and internal) to improve product profitability, procedural and operational efficiencies, or risk mitigation throughout the product life cycle.

The role establishes and maintains relationships with various departments and outside vendors to develop, implement, and improve products.

The Product Manager performs all duties and interacts with internal and external customers in a manner that aligns with the Company’s Core Values of using a “Voyaging Spirit” and being “Positively Ohana.” Core competencies include delivering positive customer interactions, empowerment, ownership, and key professional skills such as active listening, effective oral and written communication, action and solution orientation, and thoroughness.

Primary Accountabilities Product Development/Management
  • Develop and implement product line positioning and strategy.
  • Obtain approval and implement product promotion and sales campaigns; assist in securing promotional offers (rate or gift).
  • Quantify opportunity/financial impact after data gathering, research or other analysis and articulate recommendation via a business case.
  • Develop planning sheets for new products/packages to include budget, cost/benefit analysis, and project schedules.
  • Assist in setting and managing goals for product promotions and sales campaigns; track and report on performance.
  • Monitor product profitability and positioning, staying aware of changes in customer behavior, competition, and other factors that impact profitability.
  • Monitor the competitive environment—fees, rates, product features, offers—and assess product competitiveness in the marketplace, seizing opportunities to increase market penetration.
  • Monitor external and internal trends—technological advances, economic conditions, regulatory changes—for opportunities to adapt.
  • Manage projects to develop and implement new products, enhance or streamline existing products, and promote products; define business and customer communication requirements and track results.
  • Manage the overall product portfolio to ensure new account growth, attrition, net growth, cross‑sales, and profitability support the bank’s overall balance sheet and income goals.
  • Ensure product tools effectively support the sales team’s objectives.
Relationship Management
  • Act as liaison for development of new channels and/or improvement of existing channels (branch, online, mobile, etc.) to enhance access to deposit products and services.
  • Maintain relationships with sales teams, frontline staff, and support areas to achieve growth goals and facilitate customer feedback on product needs and market opportunities.
  • Negotiate, execute, and manage customer, vendor, and third‑party vendor agreements.
  • Work with Training to disseminate product knowledge and sales tools well in advance of product launch.
Strategic Initiatives
  • Assist the Department Manager in developing, planning, and implementing various strategic initiatives identified by the Executive Committee as priority for the year. This requires project management skills and collaboration with multiple business units across the bank.
Minimum Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4‑year university, preferably in business or management.
Experience
  • 6+ years of experience in product management or marketing.
  • 3+ years of banking experience preferred.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Must be able to perform light physical work and move or lift items—including boxes, files, and papers—up to 20 pounds unless otherwise indicated.
  • Must be able to operate and proficiently use standard office equipment (phone, copier, personal computer, etc.).
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in written with all internal and external customers; must also be able to hear sufficiently for daily discussions and interactions.
  • Must be able to read and understand bank‑related documents.
  • Must be able to work in a conventional office setting, involving sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods; adapt to different work environments as needed.
