Hours
  • General working hours are usually 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Monday - Friday; with a weekday off if working on the weekend), Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 12 p.m., Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
  • Weekly hours will vary depending on the needs of the program. On average, the position is 40 hours per week. However, there are often times that the weekly hours will exceed 40 hours. This position requires the individual to have flexible availability.

The Associate Director of Residential Life - Operations (ADRL) will work with the Residential Operations Assistant weekly to finalize their working schedule based on the program needs at the time.

Job Summary

‘Iolani School reinstated its boarding program in 2018 after a 60-year absence with the goal of creating an on-campus global community to enrich the Upper School experience for all students. Since its founding year, it has grown to approximately 70 students and includes students from the neighboring Hawaiian islands, continental states and international countries from around the world.

The ‘Iolani School Residential Life Team seeks an energetic and team-oriented Residential Operations Assistant. This position is one of two equivalent positions that work collaboratively to support operations for the Residential Life (Res Life) Program. One of the primary responsibilities of the Residential Operations Assistant is to maintain and provide transportation for our boarding students to school organized events, including, but not limited to, athletic commitments, performing arts, school activities, school clubs, and/or medical appointments.

Another important aspect of the role is to support the Res Life Program and the programmatic needs of the dormitory building which may vary depending on the school’s calendar. A one-bedroom apartment in campus housing is provided as part of the role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential duties/responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

Program Support
  • Collect all Residential Life (Res Life office staff and boarding students) mail from the Campus Store and the Main Office on a daily basis (Monday - Friday) and distribute accordingly.
  • Be able to have a basic knowledge, proficiency and understanding of REACH (Boarding Management System)
  • Assist the Residential Life Office staff with various tasks as assigned.
  • Work with the Residential Life Office Administrative Assistant to ensure that the Residential Life Office is stocked with necessary supplies (e.g. printer paper, snacks, labels, coffee, office supplies, etc.).
  • Work with the Director of Residential Health and Wellness to ensure that the Res Life Clinic and Hale La’au 103/104 are stocked with the necessary supplies (bottled water, OTC medications, etc.).
  • Assist the Associate Director of Residential Life - Operations by reviewing the Residential Life Weekly Bulletin to ensure all transportation information is accurate and scheduled.
  • Provide weight room supervision. Hours of cardio or weight room supervision are on Sundays from 9:00 a.m.

    - 11:00 a.m. However, exact days and hours may fluctuate.
Dormitory Building and Maintenance
  • Maintain, organize, and ensure the laundry room and sundry is adequately stocked with supplies.
  • Inventory all supplies in the dormitory building an off site storage on a yearly basis.
  • Liaise with the Physical Plant and any other third party vendor(s) as needed.
  • Pick up supplies and other goods for student activities and use in the dormitory.
  • Responsible for the organizing and storing of all holiday dormitory decorations and supplies.
  • Organizing student bin storage over winter and summer breaks, which may or may not include storage in a third party storage POD.
  • Support the closing and reopening of the dormitory when dormitory closures occur (Move In, Fall Break, Winter Break, Spring Break and Move Out).
