- Lead and inspire a team of 70‑100 team members.
- Own talent management, strengthen engagement, increase retention, and maximize productivity.
- Use business tools to drive sales, financial performance, and customer experience.
- Act as the store ambassador and deliver exemplary hospitality to guests and team members.
- Ensure all team members provide extraordinary service.
- Drive store performance by analyzing sales and P&L reports and executing action plans.
- Maintain open communication with all team members and upper management.
- Forecast and maintain store teams by collaborating with Talent Acquisition in sourcing, selecting, and hiring.
- Train, develop, and coach Assistant Managers and team members.
- Teach Assistant Managers to manage and merchandise products, drive financial metrics, and train all team members.
- Coach all team members to optimize operations, develop teamwork, and increase retention.
- Motivate team members to learn product uses via The Fresh Market Academy to enhance professional growth.
- Partner with the Guest Services Manager to provide a hospitable orientation and onboarding experience.
- Manage inventory and team to minimize product loss.
- Ensure adherence to The Fresh Market standards and policies.
- Engage with the local community for weekly sales and special holiday offerings.
- Ensure department adherence to all safety requirements and protocols, including food safety and sanitation.
The position requires a flexible schedule, including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays.
Qualifications At a minimum, what you’ll need:- High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of five years of experience as a retail store manager in relevant traffic, volume, and unit intensity.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Proven oral and written communication skills that allow for productive communication with team, management, and guests.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow policies and procedures.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow planograms, layouts, and schematics for merchandising.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Perishable, Hospitality, and/or Grocery Retail experience.
- Production Planning Software experience.
- Experience in Applicant Tracking Software (iCIMS preferred).
- Repetitive hand/arm movements, grasping, bending, reaching, ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds, exposure to extreme temperatures.
- Use of knives, ladders, stepstools, box cutters, pallet jacks, and other equipment (unless under age 18).
- Spend extended periods on feet and stand or walk without a break (for up to 4 hours or as required by law).
- Required to wear an approved hat, hair net, and/or beard guard, and personal protective equipment.
