Miami, Florida, United States. AST Space Mobile is focused on delivering cellular broadband for both commercial and government applications based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio.
The Propulsion Technician will work on satellite propulsion assembly and testing, including production, work instructions, and non-conformance reporting. They will support the propulsion engineering team for activities related to propulsion system production and performance. The successful candidate will be innovative, collaborative, and capable of leading a small team while also performing assignments autonomously.
Responsibilities- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and program requirements.
- Perform propulsion system assembly, test, and quality control tasks utilizing work instructions and detailed test procedures.
- Develop and maintain propulsion assembly documentation at the subassembly level: assembly reports, non-conformance reports, test procedures and setups, tooling, and manufacturing drawings.
- Maintain test and inventory databases for all propulsion production related activities.
- Troubleshoot and assist investigations for component anomalies and failures, root-cause analysis, and disposition.
- Develop reference performance test plans and procedures, identify hardware needs, and design test set-ups.
- Provide technical support for production and testing of satellite propulsion systems.
- Collaborate with the spacecraft team to support validation of requirements, development of the test architecture, implementation of production work instructions, and test verification of the propulsion subsystem for a spacecraft.
- Establish strong working relationships with spacecraft subsystem leads, system engineering, integration and test teams, and peers for other subsystems.
- Generate verification and validation plans, and coordinate with the Integration and Test team to ensure the subsystem meets requirements.
- Understand component interfaces and prepare presentations for peers, management, and customers.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule and perform other duties as necessary.
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in electric propulsion assembly and testing.
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or related technical field.
- Strong background in space propulsion assembly, operation, and/or testing, especially with respect to executing work instructions and test procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
