Associate - Direct Leveraged Finance
Our Private Credit Fund Firm client is a fast growing direct leveraged lender to private equity-owned companies with an emphasis on companies with $50MM EBITDA and below. It has a significant amount of committed capital and closed hundreds of direct transactions over the past several years. Additionally, our client firm has been lead or co-lead on the vast majority of their closed transactions.
It largely but not exclusively focuses senior financing opportunities up to $500MM with the hold size varying from $20MM to $160MM. It also completes and directs investments deeper into the capital structure including Unitranche, mezzanine, second lien, and equity co-investments.
Job Description
CRITICAL DUTIES, TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Associate - Direct Leveraged Finance
An instrumental member of a deal origination, transaction execution, and portfolio administration team accountable for delivering corporate finance solutions to companies owned or being acquired by Private Equity firms or non-Private Equity sponsored investment entities. Collaborate with financial intermediaries, Private Equity Groups, and current or prospective borrowers.
- An active participant in relationship management and active sales calls and marketing efforts in conjunction with Senior Originators and P.E. sponsor Business Development Officers.
- Underwrite new leveraged debt transactions; primarily sole lender, agented, and club deals.
- Complete the closing of new transactions, including exposure and engagement in the negotiation and review of legal documentation and intercreditor agreements.
- Fully engaged in key Portfolio management activities including the capability or potential to function as the lead relationship manager in an Agent role.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & CAPACITIES
Associate - Direct Leveraged Finance
- Bachelor degree in Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, or related disciplines.
- Adequate work experience required.
- Strongly preferred experience in one but not all of the following areas:
- Big 4 or upper tier accounting /consulting firm transaction advisory services, valuations or audit/assurance.
- Investment Banking corporate finance analyst program.
- Leveraged Finance.
- Commercial lending credit training and experience in corporate loan underwriting and portfolio management.
- Other applicable deal transaction experience.
- Intellectually motivated by an entrepreneurial and deal driven environment.
- Robust financial analysis, research and business due diligence skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Working experience of finance & accounting, corporate finance concepts and methodologies.
- Self-motivated with a history of meeting and preferably exceeding goals.
- Robust analytical and written communication skills.
- Deeply skillful with financial modeling.
