Holyoke Community College seeks an applicant for a Full Time faculty position in Foundations of Health, focusing on Nutrition, Public Health, Medical Terminology, and/or other courses as needed in the department.
Under the direction of the Dean of Health Sciences and in collaboration with department faculty and chair, the faculty member collaborates in the ongoing development and refinement of the Foundations of Health degree program, engages in curriculum and course development, and provides instruction in assigned courses. Responsibilities also include supporting program assessment activities, including the collection, analysis, and reporting of student learning and program outcomes.
The faculty member participates in curriculum development, program evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives. Additional responsibilities include engagement in professional development, college and program activities, college service, strategic planning, recruitment efforts, and other duties as outlined in the Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC) union contract.
* Assists with the collection, analysis, and reporting of student learning and program outcomes to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
* Contributes to the development, implementation, and evaluation of program policies and procedures.
* Participates in shared governance, including attendance and engagement in committees.
* Collaborates effectively with department faculty and staff, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills to support departmental and student needs.
* Models professional behavior and fosters an inclusive learning environment that supports diverse and multicultural learners.
* Participates in professional development and ongoing training in field of expertise and remains current on advising practices, student support services, college initiatives, and relevant instructional technologies.
* Provides effective academic advising, guiding students in developing and achieving their educational and professional goals.
* Actively supports student success through advising, recruitment, retention efforts, and engagement with college and departmental support services.
* Prepares and delivers instruction using a variety of teaching methodologies, including various instructional technologies, learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Navigate), and active learning strategies.
* Represents the College at community and campus events, in meetings with community
organizations, and during the accreditation and program review process.
* Supports and enhances the vision, mission and values of HCC.
* Performs additional duties as assigned by the department, division, or College in accordance with the MCCC contract.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Master's Degree in Public Health, Nutrition, or related field.
* Teaching experience in higher education;
* Ability to demonstrate teaching skills including the use of interactive and varied pedagogical strategies;
* Experience using instructional technology to enable student success, including online learning management systems and other tools;
* Demonstrated commitment to and experience in working successfully with a diverse student body, staff, and faculty representing a broad range of abilities, ages, ethnicities, races, and sexual orientations.
* Commitment to supporting underrepresented and diverse students;
* Ability to work collaboratively within an academic department and contribute to its growth, innovation, and excellence in alignment with institutional goals;
* Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively on projects and initiatives.

Preferred:
* Hands-on work experience in a healthcare setting;
* Community college teaching experience;
* Bilingual (English/Spanish);
* Doctoral degree in Public Health or related field;
