Position OverviewHolyoke Community College seeks an applicant for a full-time faculty in Foundations of Health specializing in public health. The faculty will be responsible for developing an A.S. degree in Public Health.
Under the direction of the Dean of Health Sciences and Program Chair, works collaboratively and collegially to develop the Public Health A.S. degree as well as provide instruction in other courses in Foundations of Health. Assists in program data collection, analysis and aggregation of end-of-program student learning outcomes and program outcomes. Participates in curriculum development, ongoing program evaluation and the continuous revision, development and improvement processes.
Engages in professional development, college and program orientation processes, college service, strategic planning, recruitment, and program admissions.
- Full participation in the development, revision and maintenance of the Public Health A.S. curriculum as well as other courses in the Foundations of Health Department.
- Assists in data collection, analysis and aggregation of end-of-program student learning outcomes and program outcomes to establish informed decision making.
- Contributes to the development, implementation, and evaluation of non-discriminatory program policies that are congruent with the regulations of the parent institution.
- Participates in shared governance and attends regularly scheduled meetings for the Governing Institution and Foundations of Health Committees.
- Works effectively as part of the overall department demonstrating positive interpersonal relations, communication, collaborating with other faculty members to meet department and student needs.
- Models professional behaviors for learners including encouragement of an atmosphere conducive to multicultural learners and student success.
- Engages in effective advisement of students by providing strategies that assist the learner to meet their professional goals.
- Actively supports students through student advising, recruitment, maintenance, college and department support services.
- Engages in theory preparation utilizing a wide variety of teaching methodologies including informational technologies (Moodle platform), and active learning strategies.
- Represents the College at community and campus events, in meetings with community organizations, and during accreditation processes.
- Support and enhance the vision, mission and values of HCC.
- Additional duties as required by the college.
- Master's degree in Public Health (MPH).
- Commitment to support underrepresented and diverse students.
- Ability to demonstrate teaching skills including the use of interactive and varied pedagogical strategies.
- Teaching experience in higher education.
- Confident and comfortable with technology-based instruction including online coursework and a learning management system.
- Commitment to teaching a student body diversified in abilities, age, ethnicity, race and sexual orientation.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty and staff.
