Adjunct Position – ART 121 Basic Drawing (Spring 2026)Holyoke Community College invites applications to teach an in‑person section of ART 121, Basic Drawing, for the Spring 2026 semester. This course provides an introduction to primary drawing techniques, focusing on black and white and limited monochromatic color media, using a variety of media including pencil, crayon, charcoal, wash and ink. Emphasis is on sound observation, skillful employment of materials, and effective presentation of completed work.

Schedule:
On‑Campus – Mondays and Fridays, 11:00 am – 1:25 pm.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a quality learning experience for HCC students on a semester basis.
- Report to a dean and perform instruction‑related duties in a timely manner, in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college.
- Distribute and review the course syllabus during the first class meeting and forward the dean no later than the end of the first week of classes.
- Utilize active learning methods and a variety of instructional strategies, such as cooperative learning, experiential learning, writing for learning, and critical‑thinking initiatives.
- Remain abreast of ongoing developments and practices in the professional content area.
- Arrange for the acquisition and preparation of appropriate materials and equipment, in collaboration with the area dean.
- Record and report student data accurately, including assessment of student performance and final grade reports.
- Support students' learning goals, focusing on outcomes, recognizing individual differences, maintaining academic integrity, and making services available.
- Attend all scheduled classes and follow appropriate procedures if a class cannot be attended.
- Master’s Degree in a related field.
- Experience with basic tools, materials, and processes related to teaching drawing.
- Commitment to and demonstrated ability to work effectively in the classroom and with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
