Schedule:

20 hours per week

• The Addiction Services Physician is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and supervision to a multidisciplinary medical team while ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based medical care to patients with complex substance use needs. The ideal candidate brings strong primary care expertise, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to integrated physical and mental health services. This position will implement policies, procedures, medical staff training, budget management and interventions that promote a positive work and treatment culture.
• Supervise and support nurse practitioners and physician assistants in delivering comprehensive medical care to substance use patients.
• Conduct regular team meetings, chart reviews, and case consultations to ensure clinical excellence and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, nursing leadership, and clinical teams to coordinate patient care and promote integrated treatment planning.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, policy development, and staff education.
• Ensure appropriate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) and compliance with facility protocols, state, and federal regulations.
• Serve as a resource and mentor to the team and provide feedback on clinical performance and professional development.
• Provide direct patient care as needed and participate in the on-call rotation as required.
• Perform telehealth consultations as needed.

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
• Board certification in Family Medicine (required).
• Active and unrestricted medical license in Massachusetts.
• Active DEA
• Active Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration
• At least 3 years of clinical experience in inpatient, primary care, or behavioral health settings preferred.
• Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a healthcare setting strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of the medical needs of individuals with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills.
• Skills in interpreting and applying standards and regulations applicable to substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions (e.g. JC, CMS, DMH, DPH)
• Time management, problem-solving, crisis management, and team-building capacity; flexibility, creativity, and ability to manage stress.
• Commitment to person-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented care.

• Up to $2,500 practice allowance to pay for licenses, CMEs, etc. (annually)
