Responsibilities

The Advanced Location Technologies business unit at Zebra is the RFID center of excellence for innovation, driving the future of intelligent automation solutions for the enterprise. Our cross-functional team designs and builds award-winning and cutting-edge products that give our customers real-time visibility into their operations, with our handheld and fixed RFID readers enabling a diverse range of industries to operate more efficiently, from retail and healthcare to manufacturing and logistics.

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to assist in the mechanical design and development of rugged, high-performance RFID products.
  • Work through all phases of product development from concept brainstorming to production release.
  • Create 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings using Creo for both new product development and product sustaining activities.
  • Design, analyze, prototype, and test electromechanical parts, subassemblies, and systems.
  • Engage directly with JDMs and suppliers on cost-effective part designs and manufacturing processes for high-volume production.
  • Perform tolerance analyses as well as stress and thermal analyses using hand calculations.
  • Use problem solving skills to troubleshoot customer issues and perform root cause analyses.
  • Propose viable solutions for engineering problems and then execute those solutions in detail, while working within schedule and budget constraints.
  • Document design specifications, test procedures, and results according to Zebra’s quality standards.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and 1+ year experience in Mechanical Engineering

Preferred Requirements:

  • Prior experience via internships, co-ops, and/or a master’s degree is highly valued but not required.
  • Proficiency using Creo CAD software for part/assembly design and drafting
  • Solid understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
