Software Engineer III (AI) – Verisk – Holmdel, NJ
Job DescriptionSenior Software Engineer acts as a senior/lead team member assisting assigned Insurance Carrier project teams (“our clients”) to implement, integrate, leverage, and enhance the FAST platform. The role involves full stack development, building elegant solutions for the life insurance industry’s complex business domain, and improving industry‑leading products.
On‑site role with a flexible hybrid work model at Holmdel, NJ.
Objectives of this role- Help develop GenAI and Agentic
AI offerings leveraging AWS services on the FAST Policy Administration Platform. - Be a leading voice in the design and implementation of AI‑based solutions for the insurance industry.
- Provide guidance to junior and mid‑level engineers, helping them develop technical skills, career growth, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Work across the full stack, building highly scalable distributed solutions that enable positive user experiences and measurable business growth.
- Develop new features and infrastructure in support of rapidly emerging business and project objectives.
- Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards for code quality and application design.
- Continuously enhance the base platform in accordance with SaaS development principles.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for technical discussions with senior management, other engineering teams, and business units. Translate complex technical topics into clear, understandable language for non‑technical stakeholders.
- Participate in all aspects of agile software development, including design, implementation, and deployment.
- Design and provide guidance on building end‑to‑end systems optimized for speed and scale on .NET platforms.
- Work primarily in technologies such as .NET, Angular/React, JavaScript, SQL Server, Postgres, etc.
- Engage with designers and front‑end engineers, and collaborate with back‑end engineers to create reliable APIs.
- Develop next‑generation user interfaces for all applications and innovate on integration patterns using microservice design.
- Strong analytical skills to break down complex objectives and provide appropriate solutions within the FAST application context.
- Focus on delivering value to clients, balancing operational and regulatory constraints.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, articulating complex product features and benefits clearly.
- Strong relationship‑building skills fostering collaboration across departments.
Skills and Qualifications
- 5–7 years of industry experience building large‑scale software applications.
- Experience building generative AI solutions using AWS Bedrock.
- Deep understanding of prompt engineering and best practices.
- Experience building web applications.
- Strong programming expertise in Java, C#, or Python.
- Object‑oriented programming and enterprise software design principles.
- Experience with JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, ExtJS) a plus.
- Prior experience with SOA concepts and methodologies.
- Leadership capable of motivating and energizing resources.
- Leadership/management experience of on‑shore and off‑shore resources.
- Design and integration of RESTful APIs.
- Excellent debugging and optimization skills.
- Experience with unit/integration testing.
- Experience with AWS services.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science, information technology, or engineering;
Master’s a plus. - Interest in learning new tools, languages, workflows, and philosophies.
- Professional certifications.
