SURGICAL TECHNICIAN – OPERATING ROOM – BAYSHORE

Full‑time, day shift position at JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute (Hackensack Meridian Health).

• Perform assigned duties under the direction of the Registered Professional Nurse.
• Demonstrate positive behavior and implement a plan of care.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures to provide surgeons with sterile instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Accurately complete assignments within scheduled time periods, adapting to changes in workload or assignments while receiving appropriate supervisory counseling.
• Communicate pertinent patient information and potential problems to the registered nurse before breaks, during transfers, and at shift changes.
• Cooperate with reassignments and float to meet unit staffing needs, including willingness to work overtime or across shift assignments.
• Provide safe, direct patient care, following the plan of care as directed by the registered nurse.
• Exercise calm behavior and appropriate judgment in crisis situations, maintaining sterility of the field when possible.
• Participate in quality improvement processes and unit-level performance improvement activities.
• Provide for effective and safe patient outcomes through professional judgment and critical action.
• Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned.
• Adhere to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Meet New Jersey Surgical Technologist law requirements.
• BLS certification required.
• Six months OR experience strongly preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Tech Program and a Certified Surgical Tech.
• Minimum of one year surgical scrub experience preferred.
• National certification preferred.
• Self‑starter who works well independently.
• Excellent time‑management and prioritizing skills.
• Ability to multitask.

Minimum rate: $28.93 per hour.

The stated rate is an estimate; actual compensation may vary based on experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and other non‑discriminatory factors. Shift differentials for evening, night, or weekend hours may apply.
