Overview
Colliers Engineering & Design is looking for a driven and hands-on GIS Field Technician to join our team during the Spring of 2026, working in the north and central regions of NJ. This is a dynamic, field-based role where you'll be out in the field collecting high-impact geospatial data that directly supports major GIS asset management project applications, engineering and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities- Participate in daily field work and handling of company field equipment and operating company field vehicles on project sites.
- Collect location data in the field using GPS and AI system equipment.
- Manage work assignments assigned on a weekly basis.
- Prepare project status reports, meeting notes, and daily communication with the project team and client staff.
- Create and manage GIS data and maps using the ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Desktop software.
- Utilize web maps, applications, inspection forms, and project dashboards through ArcGIS Online software during your field assignments.
- Understand and convert field data into GIS produced documents and basic quality control review of your data collection products.
- Complete assignments in the specific time periods requested while ensuring accuracy, completeness, quality, and thoroughness of results.
- Understand and follow the company's standard GIS procedures project data creation.
- 0-3+ years experience using GNSS/GPS equipment to collect roadway and utility data in the field.
- Preferably a graduate holding a degree or certificate in GIS or supportive major.
- Basic use of Esri's ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online software.
- Valid Drivers License, having the ability to drive company vehicles to site locations to perform field work.
- Travel required daily, must be able to drive for long periods of time.
- Knowledge of utility systems (stormwater, sanitary sewer, water) and related GIS data models is preferred.
- Demonstrate general computer skills, knowledge and acumen (ie., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions with team staff and client staff.
Compensation: $24.00 to $36.00 per hour (depending on qualifications)
