Overview
As part of the Utilities and Infrastructure department, the Instrumentation and Electrical Technician is responsible for participating in the repair and maintenance of all electrical systems for our wastewater treatment plant, collections and distribution facilities, and related facilities and equipment. The employee installs, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs SCADA associated equipment, motor controls, generator equipment and field devices. In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.
Responsibilities• Install, troubleshoot, maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment at wastewater treatment plants, and related facilities.
• Inspect and service SCADA associated equipment, motor controls, generator equipment and field devices.
• Respond to emergencies as essential personnel and perform alternate duties as needed.
• Work under moderate supervision of the Industrial Maintenance Supervisor.
The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, and four (4) years of work experience in a role such as utility electrician, maintenance specialist or any related field. Possession of a valid State of North Carolina driver’s license. Must have good working knowledge of North Carolina Electrical Code. Electrical license is preferred, but not mandatory. The employee should have general knowledge of the principles and practices of wastewater treatment, distribution and collection transmission lines, pumping stations, metering, and other utility systems appurtenances.
The employee should have thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relating to electrical construction associated with wastewater treatment, water distribution and sewer collection; understanding of budgeting, purchasing, and personnel policies and practices; computer technology, electrical and mechanical systems as well as plumbing, pneumatics, and pressure. The position starts at $56,451.
