The Associate Director, HS drives the implementation and enhancement of FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies world-class Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability (HS) programs. This role is pivotal in fostering a culture that prioritizes employee well-being and safety across all operational facets. The AD, HS is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while nurturing a proactive safety culture that emphasizes the importance of putting people and the planet first in all engagements.
FUJIFILM Biotechnologies is building the future of bioproduction in Holly Springs, North Carolina. By end of 2025, we’ll open North America’s largest end-to-end CDMO biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility, offering drug substance production, fill-finish, and packaging under one roof.

What You’ll Do- Spearheads the development, execution, and continuous improvement of HS and Sustainability programs, making sure they align with global best practices and reflect our commitment to world-class standards.
- Champions initiatives that elevate employee welfare, including comprehensive safety training and awareness campaigns that empower individuals to take ownership of their health and safety.
- Leads efforts to maintain adherence to local and international safety regulations, leveraging a proactive approach to identifying risks and mitigating them effectively.
- Works closely with various departments to integrate HS priorities into daily operations, ensuring a unified and collaborative effort towards achieving our safety goals.
- Implements thorough risk assessment practices, developing action plans that address potential hazards and enhance overall workplace safety.
- Establishes robust metrics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of HS programs, continuously seeking areas for improvement and innovation.
- Represents the company and collaborates with key internal and external stakeholders including regulators, insurance carriers and corporate auditors.
- Manages and develops direct reports from the HS team.
- Administers company policies such as time off, shift work, and inclement weather that directly impact employees.
- Completes required administrative tasks (e.g., timecard approvals, time off approvals, expense reports, etc.).
- Coaches and guides direct reports to foster professional development.
- Participates in the recruitment process and retention strategies to attract and retain talent, as needed.
- Addresses performance gaps, employee questions and concerns, and partners with HR as needed for resolution.
- Oversees waste management program requirements including compliance with federal (RCRA), state and local requirements.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.

- Associate’s degree in occupational, Industrial Health, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering, or related field with 13+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment OR
