Position: Automation Engineer, DSM Upstream (Various Levels)

The Automation Engineer, DSM Upstream, will provide support to the Drug Substance Manufacturing (DSM) facility using Delta

V. This includes implementing changes to the Automation systems, updating design documents, executing tests, troubleshooting events, and providing automation on‑call support. This role focuses on supporting the delivery of Delta

V logic for Upstream process areas, including Inoculum Lab, Media Preparation, Seed Culture, Large Scale Bioreactors, and Harvest. Openings are available from entry‑level to senior engineers. Join us and grow your automation career.

Job Description What You’ll Do
  • Perform Automation activities, such as code configuration, document development, and test execution using Delta

    V.
  • Deliver accurate and on‑time Automation work.
  • Create standard code utilizing simple control strategies.
  • Assist with developing, generating, reviewing, and maintaining various specification documents (e.g., user requirements specification (URS), functional specification (FS), design qualification (DQ)).
  • Assist with developing, generating, reviewing, and maintaining various test protocols and functional testing documents (e.g., installation qualification (IQ), operational qualification (OQ)).
  • Assist with developing various test protocols and execute functional testing for documents.
  • Serve as on‑call support for Automation inquiries and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Validation.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
Knowledge And Skills
  • Effective communication, both written and oral.

  • Ability to apply knowledge of Automation subject areas.
Basic Requirements (per Experience Level) Automation Engineer 1
  • High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of Automation, Instrumentation & Controls, or other relevant technical experience; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field with no prior experience.
  • Preferred:
    • 1+ year of Automation experience.
Automation Engineer 2
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field.
  • 2 years of Automation, Instrumentation & Controls, or other relevant technical experience.
  • Delta

    V automation experience is required.
  • Preferred:
    • 3+ years of Automation experience.
Automation Engineer 3
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field.
  • 5 years of Automation, Instrumentation & Controls, or other relevant technical experience.
  • Delta

    V automation experience is required.
  • Preferred:
    • 6+ years of Automation experience.
Automation Senior Engineer 1
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field.
  • 8 years of Automation, Instrumentation & Controls, or other relevant technical experience.
  • Delta

    V automation experience is required.
  • Preferred:
    • Master’s degree in technical field of study relevant to Automation or Instrumentation & Controls with 6+ years of Automation experience.
