Position Summary

The Design Engineer owns the technical backbone and the customer-facing engineering data for our manufactured fall‑protection products that serve both turnkey projects and direct sales channels. You will produce high‑quality technical content—drawings, specifications, test reports, engineering calculations, qualification records, installation and user instructions, and technical bulletins—that underpins product quality assurance and safe end‑user installation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, analyze, and validate product components/assemblies; produce defensible engineering calculations and test reports that support qualification records.
  • Plan, execute, and document product testing, including test protocols, data capture, results analysis, and formal test reports supporting qualification records.
  • Create field‑ready installation instructions, user instructions, spec sheets, and technical bulletins that are concise, illustrated, and brand‑aligned.
  • Convert CAD to visuals (exploded views, section cuts, callouts) and produce diagrams/illustrations that clarify steps, inspection points, and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and maintain product technical data (drawings, BOMs, tolerances, materials, finishes) and change control documentation within PDM/PLM.
  • Partner with Supply Chain to embed product quality assurance controls, risk assessments, and traceability across the lifecycle.
  • Standardize content for web and channel listings (dimensions, ratings, compatibilities, regulatory notes, installation requirements, FAQs) to reduce liability and returns.
  • Work with Project Engineering/Operations to incorporate voice‑of‑customer feedback and installation learnings into revisions and new product introductions.
  • Ensure designs and documentation align with applicable standards and regulations; maintain version control and audit readiness.
  • Support supplier and fabrication partners with clear specifications, inspection criteria, and deviation/waiver documentation as needed.
  • Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (or related) or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years in product design/validation for industrial or safety‑critical hardware.
  • Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD (AutoCAD and Inventor, or similar), drawings, and BOMs.
  • Demonstrated technical writing ability (provide samples/portfolio of instructions, spec sheets, or test reports).
  • Experience authoring structured, stepwise procedures with installation/inspection criteria, and safety warnings.
  • Ability to apply a brand identity guide and collaborate with Marketing to produce polished, on‑brand deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with fall‑protection systems, anchors, lifelines, or adjacent load‑bearing safety products.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 1910/1926 and ANSI/ASSP Z359 concepts as applied to product design and instructions.
  • Finite Element Analysis (linear/static; buckling; fatigue) for design justification and optimization.
  • Exposure to ISO 9001 or similar QMS, control plans, inspection methods, and supplier quality…
