The Division Lead, Portfolio Management, Business Banking manages the administration of a sizable business banking portfolio and supports business banking teams within the Michigan Hub through the supervision of Credit Analysts, Portfolio Managers and a loan administration team. This role serves as an additional point of contact, maintaining a high level of client responsiveness, directly interfacing with clients to proactively identify and mitigate credit risk.

What

You'll Do
  • Assess deal strengths and weaknesses and risk factors. Evaluate and establish risk ratings for transactions and correlates exposure levels as a part of the client strategy discussion. Complete and coordinate memos using aforementioned process and materials.

  • Collaborate with bankers, internal staff, and bank attorney regarding loan documentation and closing process for new and amended credit facilities, including waivers and modifications. Help ensure loan documentation complies with loan approvals.

  • Interface with loan operations team regarding booking of new and amended deals, waivers and modifications, providing all necessary documentation to complete closing process.

  • Monitor tickler and exception reports to manage flow of financial reporting and client compliance with covenants for the Michigan Hub.

  • Prepare internal and external regulatory exam responses. Respond to examiner questions and requests for information regarding assigned portfolio. Assist in cross selling efforts and participates in special projects. Work closely with and provides guidance to Credit Analysts.

  • Train, mentor, and develop other Portfolio Managers and Analysts and other junior members of the team. Help drive and support innovation and continuous efficiency improvements.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or accounting;
    Master’s degree preferred

  • Formal credit training from a respected bank, with a strong understanding of general credit and risk principles, mitigates, and banking policies/procedures

  • 10+ years' financial services experience with a working knowledge of the banking environment, products and all supporting processes and technology; commercial credit experience highly preferred

  • Prior experience managing a team preferred but not required

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills

  • Proven ability to manage tasks in a timely and efficient manner

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability establishing client relationships and working within a team environment
