General purpose

Leads specialized finance-related activities in support of multiple/large projects, functions, or major business units/product lines. The area supported is a major element of the organization’s business/operations. Develops and/or oversees the preparation of highly detailed and the most complex analyses and research for financial forecasts, projections, and reports. Assignments typically provide exposure to the most complex financial concepts, issues, and activities.

Essential Functions

• Collaborates with Management to provide strategic guidance and sound business decision support through proper financial analysis, collaboration and critical thinking.
• Conducts activities in accordance with GAAP and established Herman Miller guidelines.
• Confers with leadership and internal business partners on unusual issues/situations and in identifying reporting requirements.
• Coordinates /oversees and liaisons with Herman Miller finance, both domestic and international.
• Develops and independently implements work strategies to achieve desired results. Influences business decisions by effectively forecasting, preparing and presenting financial forecasts.
• Leads activities in support of multiple/large projects, functions, or major business units/product lines.
• Leverages extensive internal/external contacts at all levels in the organization.
• May provide support on special projects, such as business acquisitions, divestitures or new products.
• Provides professional mentoring to less experienced team members.
• Summarizes financial performance, identifies key performance indicators, and facilitates action plans to address significant risks and opportunities.
• Works with cross-functional areas to identify and implement continuous process improvements.
• Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Education/Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent. MBA preferred.
• 6+ years of experience in a professional finance position.
• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CTP (Certified Treasury Professional) / CCM (Certified Cash Manager) preferred.

• Highly developed and thorough knowledge and expertise in the finance area of specialty, enabling you to advise, influence and partner with various groups to affect change and identify reporting needs.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
• Highly developed analytical skills to analyze problems and generate ideas and solutions.
• Ability to identify, define, and resolve complex problems/projects/programs and to recognize trends and issues.
• Proven ability to accomplish objectives by influencing individuals at all levels, including internal and external management; ability to establish and implement policy and procedures in key areas.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage projects.
• Proficiency in office automation, current financial software, Herman Miller information systems, data warehouse, and Business Intelligence tools.
