Second Grade Dual Language Teacher

Los Lagos Bilingual Academy Principal
Beginning:
August 2026
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate required.
- Elementary endorsement (ZG) required NS (ESL) or YF (bilingual Spanish) preferred
- Experience in Dual Language Programs preferred
- Demonstrated Spanish & English proficiency is required
- Responsible for lesson planning and instruction of the 2nd-grade bilingual curriculum.
- The DL instructional model is 90:10 two-way Dual Language.
- In 2nd grade, the teacher is responsible for facilitating 70% of instruction in Spanish and 30% of instruction in English.
- Demonstrates ability to differentiate instruction by creating challenging and engaging learning opportunities for all students.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress in Spanish and English while differentiating instructional methods to fit student needs.
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learning of current developments in the bilingual educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional development meetings.
- Promote cultural awareness and appreciation within the classroom, school, and community.
- Fulfill other responsibilities as laid out in the Teacher Association Contract
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
- Reaching:
Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. - Lifting:
Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles. - Grasping:
Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. - Talking:
Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. - Hearing:
Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound. - Repetitive motions:
Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. - The worker is subject to environmental conditions.
- The worker should provide consistent and reliable, and in-person attendance
