Overview
The Safety and Operations Technician plays a critical role in supporting JDC Power Systems’ safety and operational excellence initiatives. This position is responsible for conducting onsite electrical and mechanical assessments, developing and executing safety and operational procedures, and delivering technical and safety training to field personnel and customers. The technician operates independently across diverse environments while remaining aligned with national field service standards, safety requirements, and customer expectations.
Extensive national travel is required.
Conduct onsite electrical and mechanical equipment assessments across commercial, industrial, and mission‑critical environments including data centers, manufacturing facilities, hospitals, and mixed‑use buildings.
Identify electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and stored energy sources to support safe work execution, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and job hazard analysis.
Support regional and national field service teams with technical guidance and best practices.
Training and Knowledge TransferDeliver in‑person and virtual training on electrical safety and lockout/tagout.
Assist in the development and continuous improvement of standardized training materials including presentations, job aids, manuals, worksheets, and hands‑on practical exercises.
Serve as a technical and safety subject matter resource for the Field Service organization.
Safety & ComplianceSupport and reinforce JDC’s safety culture by ensuring compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety standards.
Conduct safety walkthroughs, audits, and assessments at project and customer sites.
Identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and escalate safety concerns to leadership as required.
Documentation and ReportingDevelop, review, and update technical documentation including Lock out Tag out Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs), and safety procedures.
Complete detailed field reports, training records, assessments, and audit documentation.
Support standardized reporting and data capture within JDC field service systems and tools.
Collaboration and Customer EngagementWork closely with National and Regional Field Service leadership to ensure consistent execution of standards and expectations.
Interface directly with customers, vendors, and partners in a professional and solutions‑oriented manner.
Support customer satisfaction by addressing field issues promptly, communicating clearly, and escalating concerns appropriately.
Health and Safety ComplianceEnsure all field technicians follow company safety protocols and comply with industry regulations.
Foster a culture of safety by conducting regular safety training, audits, and incident investigations.
Stay up to date with federal, state, and local regulations related to field operations and ensure the team’s practices meet these requirements.
Strategic Planning and Continuous ImprovementWork closely with senior leadership to help shape and execute strategies that drive growth and improve field service operations nationwide.
Identify areas for improvement and lead initiatives that increase operational efficiency and enhance service quality.
Stay informed on the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in field service management to keep the team competitive and up to date.
QualificationsEducation and Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience working with electrical and/or mechanical systems in field service, operations, maintenance, safety, or technical consulting roles and/or relevant education.
Experience developing or implementing safety, operational, or technical procedures preferred.
Prior training, mentoring, or supervisory experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems (120
VAC and above) and mechanical systems. - Ability to identify energy magnitudes and evaluate energized and de‑energized conditions.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and one‑line drawings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver technical training.
