Service Engineer

• Travel: Minimum of 50% travel in multi-state regions; drive or fly depending on distance (all costs covered by the company).
• Location: Hoffman Estates, Illinois (Employee is expected to work at the Technical Center when not visiting customers).

Service Engineers are expected to provide customers with maintenance and repair assistance of CNC machine tools on location or by telephone. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential functions satisfactorily:

• Provide customers with maintenance, repair, and installation assistance of CNC machine tools on location or by telephone.
• Create and update documentation of technical information.
• Develop, prepare, generate, and analyze ongoing and ad-hoc special reports pertaining to Service.
• Demonstrate a willingness to help others and be a team member; often working together with Customer Service Engineers.
• Provide assistance and training to Customer Service Engineers on the installation and maintenance of newer product lines.
• Establish and build exemplary communication and customer service relationships with customers.
• Manage difficult customer situations positively, respond promptly to customer needs, and solicit feedback to improve service.

• 3-5 years of experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance of CNC machine tools.
• Experience working with DMG or MORI SEIKI machines, Fanuc, Mitsubishi, and/or Siemens controls is a PLUS.
• Good verbal and written communication skills with exceptional customer service orientation.
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively in person and over the phone with individuals at all organizational levels.
• Proven ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and sequence (PLC) ladder diagrams.
• Basic computer literacy and working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Adaptability to changes in the work environment; ability to manage competing demands and deal with delays or unexpected events.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in a related field of study.

• Exposure to manufacturing/machining environments which may present hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, and other machinery.

• Frequent: Travel, operating a vehicle, sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting objects. Repetitive movements of foot, leg, hand, arm, shoulder, and torso.
• Periodic: Operating power equipment, sitting at a desk, using computers and phones.
• Occasional: Lifting or moving up to 50 lbs.
