The Leopardo team is growing and looking for a Senior Superintendent to lead projects in the Greater Chicagoland Area.

Summary: As a member of the field operations team, the Senior Superintendent is responsible for overall leadership of on‑site field administration, supervision, and technical management of large‑sized or several mid‑sized projects. The role plans, directs, and coordinates project activities to ensure goals are met within schedule and budget, while maintaining safety and quality. The Superintendent performs quality control, subcontractor/vendor coordination, and may supervise other Superintendents and interns.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise on‑site effort to ensure construction meets design, budget, schedule, safety, and quality objectives, and client satisfaction.
  • Organize, coordinate, and supervise foremen and self‑perform employees; monitor budgeted vs. actual cost for self‑perform work.
  • Coordinate daily subcontractor activities, including pre‑installation meetings and monitoring insurance.
  • Assist preconstruction and project management with initial scheduling, maintain the master schedule, develop a three‑week look‑ahead, forecast manpower, track critical dates, document delays, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Develop a safety plan with the safety department; conduct daily site walks, audits, inspections, and logs; manage safe‑work plans, toolbox talks, and incident reporting.
  • Initiate a quality plan; monitor initiatives, document observations, and enforce compliance from subcontractors, vendors, and self‑perform trades.
  • Provide technical assistance (drawings, construction methods, equipment, scheduling, engineering) as required.
  • Lead or facilitate pre‑construction, weekly, and post‑construction meetings; prepare and distribute minutes.
  • Review documents for constructability; compare drawings and submittals to contract documents and coordinate trade activities.
  • Maintain and process construction documents, ASIs, bulletins, CCDs, and field documentation for the Sustainability Manager.
  • Create pre‑punch and punch lists; follow up with subcontractors for timely completion.
  • Record hiring requirements; maintain daily/monthly records, payroll certifications, and MBE/WBE compliance monitoring.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients/owners, architects, developers, owners’ reps, unit owners, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Participate in industry associations, promote Leopardo, and network on construction trends and market insights.
  • Conduct site walkthroughs to verify field conditions.
  • Participate in presentations and interviews for new projects, articulating Leopardo’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Support recruiting efforts as required.
  • Mentor, train, and advise less‑senior staff; lead training of newly hired Superintendents and engage in peer mentoring.

Supervisory Requirements: While not direct reports, the position provides direct influence on project management, administration, accounting, and field operations staff, including self‑perform trades.

Education / Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or architecture (preferred) or equivalent training and related experience.
  • Minimum ten years of supervisory experience in progressively responsible roles, with over fifteen years total construction experience.
  • Deep understanding of all work divisions, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control; market knowledge required.
  • Proven success on large and/or complex projects.
  • Proficiency with construction technologies: scheduling software, Windows OS, blueprints.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver’s license required. OSHA 30 Hour and First Aid/CPR preferred.
