Mobile Phlebotomist - Jersey City
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Mobile Phlebotomist to join our team in Jersey City. The ideal candidate will have experience in blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, decontamination, and updating patient information. You will collect and store specimens according to established procedures and explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously. Expertise in using straight and butterfly needles and understanding physicians' orders is essential.
Responsibilities
+ Collect and store specimens following established protocols.
+ Clearly explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods to patients.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
+ Understand and follow physicians' orders accurately.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
+ Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
+ Package specimens for transport and store samples at the required temperature.
+ Follow procedures specific to protocol to maintain specimen integrity during transport.
+ Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
+ Attend annual department training sessions.
+ Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in blood draws and phlebotomy.
+
Experience with hard sticks.
+ Ability to float and drive own vehicle.
+ At least 1 year of high-volume phlebotomy experience.
+ Understanding of medical terminology.
+
Experience with centrifuges and blood pressure monitoring.

+ GED or High School Diploma.

Work Environment
This role involves floating within a 60-minute radius of Jersey City, covering areas such as Clifton, Livingston, Maplewood, and Hudson County. You will work 40 hours weekly, with schedules provided on Sunday evenings. The position requires flexibility to cover sites at short notice, including any day from 7am to 8pm and every other Saturday. You will rotate between practices for internal medicine, OBGYN, pediatrics, and more.
Adaptability to new environments and comfort with different personalities and demographics is ideal. Mileage expenses can be submitted for travel over 30 miles from your residence.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hoboken, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
