The opportunity

EY's State and Local Tax (SALT) team is a growing practice. As a Tax Manager, you’ll manage multiple tax engagements and contribute to the delivery of quality tax planning and compliance services for our financial services industry clients. Join a rapidly growing team with ongoing expansion and mentorship programs to develop your tax technical skills, management techniques, and business experience.

Your key responsibilities

You’ll work on a diverse array of projects, providing up‑to‑date state and local tax advisory and compliance services. You’ll apply your knowledge of SALT concepts and law in a collaborative culture that emphasizes information sharing and teamwork.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Contributing to the overall success of the team by understanding EY methodologies and tools to enhance service delivery
  • Challenging traditional procedures and identifying new approaches to providing tax services
  • Building client relationships and demonstrating knowledge of the real estate industry
  • Developing and guiding junior tax professionals through feedback and on‑the‑job training
  • Staying current on SALT developments and contributing to new service offerings that deliver client value

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in accounting, finance, or economics and 5 years of related work experience
  • A CPA certification, or good standing as a member of a state bar
  • Strong tax technical skills including tax research and writing, flow-through entity taxation, income and franchise taxes, transfer taxes, and multi‑state compliance
  • Project management experience in delivering high‑quality work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel as needed and to work in a balanced hybrid environment

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience in a professional services environment
