We are currently seeking Fiber Technicians/Construction Installers in the Hobbs, NM area. These positions are full time position. Applicant must be based in the Hobbs area or willing to relocate.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Install aerial cables (fiber, COAX and copper); installing, connecting, testing, or adjusting equipment as requested.

Inspect or test lines or cables, recording and analyzing test results, to assess transmission characteristics and locate faults or malfunctions.

Access specific areas to install new fiber, using bucket trucks, or by climbing poles or ladders, or entering tunnels, trenches, or crawl spaces.

String cables between structures and lines from poles, towers, or trenches and pull lines to proper tension using jacks, hoist and other equipment as necessary.

Pull up cable by hand from large reels mounted on trailers.

Lay underground cable directly in trenches or string it through conduits running through trenches/manholes as requested and required.

Pull cable through ducts by hand or with winches.

Ability to use a variety of construction equipment to complete installations, such as digger derricks, bucket trucks, back hoes, trenchers, or cable plows.

Dig trenches for underground wires or cables.

Understand staking sheets and blueprints.

Perform work in accordance with industry standards. Be familiar with RUS standards, read and follow design engineers’ instructions and specifications, maintain the scope of work on the project and adhere to safety procedures.

Fill and tamp holes, using cement, earth, and tamping devices.

Splice coax and fiber cables and tasks associated with splicing.

Other work as assigned.

Required Skills/A bilities:

Ability to read blueprints.

Ability to use hand tools and power tools.

Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Computer knowledge for use of on-line work orders and time sheets.

Hold a valid driver’s license.

Ability to understand and communicate in a proper manner on email, text, or phone.

Relay information and questions through the proper hierarchy chain.

Ability to adapt to last minute changes and redirect course of project completion accordingly.

Ability to work independently, or as part of a team.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum of one year experience

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.

Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.

Must be physically capable of all mentioned duties.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Work minimum 8 hours a day.

Work in all weather conditions.

Compensation:

Paid travel time. Overtime effective after 8 hours/day and 40 hours/week.
