Pet Smart’s Pet Associate (Retail Sales Associate) is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets while providing positive experiences and upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role also shares responsibility of store cleanliness and maintenance, and pet safety standards as well as the direct care of pets within our store.

• Engage with pet parents in person, over the phone, at the register, and online to ensure positive outcomes.
• Greet pet parents and answer their questions throughout the store.
• Prepare online orders for in-store pickup, ensuring a smooth experience.
• Care for store-owned pets, including feeding, watering, and cleaning habitats.
• Maintain store cleanliness standards.
• Support weekly price changes and promotional pricing.
• Stage and sort new products to match sales floor plans.
• Stock and recover products to meet sales standards.
• Recommend, inform, and sell merchandise, services, and live pets.
• Administer store-owned pet medications as directed by a veterinarian.
• Promote events like adoption weekends, Treats enrollment, and charity events.
• Ensure a safe environment for staff, pets, and customers.
• Act immediately if a sick or injured pet is identified, including transport to the vet.
• Assist in various store areas as needed.

• Follow all company policies and procedures.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.

• Stand, walk, climb ladders, and handle objects; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear; see with depth perception.
• Lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly; team lift over 100 pounds occasionally.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, pet hair, and moderate to high noise levels; handling live animals.
