Senior Tax Manager - Hobbs, NM

Who: A seasoned tax professional with at least ten years of public accounting experience and strong leadership and technical review capabilities.

Position Overview:

The Senior Tax Manager provides technical leadership across complex tax engagements, ensures exceptional accuracy and compliance, develops and mentors staff, strengthens client relationships, and contributes to business development while upholding the highest standards of service and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide final technical review on tax returns and supporting documents.
  • Research complex tax issues and prepare effective resolutions and recommendations.
  • Stay current on developments in tax law and accounting procedures.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage client engagements to ensure timely completion.
  • Communicate directly with clients to ensure their needs and best interests are fully supported.
  • Lead and support staff by providing resources, setting objectives, monitoring budgets, and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Oversee quality control and evaluate staff performance.
  • Assign, track, and manage tasks and projects delegated to staff and supervisors.
  • Mentor and develop staff and supervisors to strengthen team capabilities.
  • Build and nurture internal and external networks to support new business opportunities.
  • Manage billing, collections, WIP monitoring, aging, and write-downs.
  • Participate in and help facilitate internal CPE and training initiatives.
Qualifications
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of public accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and strong people development skills.
  • Strong decision-making abilities with initiative and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to manage a heavy workload.
