Salary

$35.37 - $53.05 Hourly
$73,568 - $110,352 Annually
This position is a Pay Band C10

Why does the job exist?

This position supports and delivers various public health programs, which may include, but is not limited to:
Health Services such as Epidemiology and Response;
Tuberculosis;
Breast and Cervical Cancer screening and referral; STI screening, treatment and referrals;
Immunizations;
Family Planning;
Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) services;
Case Management;
Community Outreach;
Health Promotion; and Disease Management, through advocacy, adherence to clinical protocols, standing orders, education and policies and procedures. The New Mexico Department of Health is committed to providing population-based health services to assure the health and well-being of all New Mexicans. This position supports the Southeast (SE) Region of New Mexico and assures that quality health services are provided for the population.

This position will be responsible for participating in any requirements for the Medicaid Administrative Claiming program as it relates to the primary duties of their job and working with clients and community member throughout Lea County.

How does it get done?

This position advises on health maintenance and disease prevention. This position administers nursing care to clients in an autonomous environment by utilizing the laws, principle, practices, standing orders, and techniques of professional nursing. This position must make program-specific decisions per protocols, and prioritize client needs accordingly, and must address any issue not covered in protocols with Regional Health Officer/Clinician.

Who are the customers?

Lea County community and outlying areas encompassing the under-served and uninsured community members such as children, teens and adults in various life stages. This position also is accountable to the PHD, program staff and community partners.

Ideal Candidate
  • Spanish speaking would be an advantage
  • Experience in a medical clinic setting
  • Experience in administering immunizations
  • Experience in testing and treating STDs
  • Experienced with application of protocols
  • Critical thinking skills and functioning autonomously in a clinic setting.
Minimum Qualification

Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Working Conditions

Work is typically performed in an office setting, exposure to visual/video display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Lifting up to thirty (30) pounds and working in loud environments may be required. Intermittent travel is required for this position; to also include occasional overnight travel to attend mandatory meetings. Outreach settings for vaccine/testing events required.
