Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Structural Material Handler ships finished goods in good condition according to SOP.

  • Banding and strapping product to skids making sure it is secure.
  • Loading and unloading materials onto and off trucks.
  • Operating industrial trucks, sit-down forklift, stand up forklift, and cranes.
  • Building skids/crates (Some Carpentry Required).
  • Banding beam and columns in bundles and loading them on flatbed trailers.
  • Some computer skills are required when staging products for shipping and loading.
  • Some outside work unloading pallet trucks and organizing pallet area.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Employees are responsible for complying with all requirements of Daifuku's QMS policies and procedures.
  • Employees are to ensure sustainable process outputs that drive continuous improvement to provide leading industry performance and exceptional customer satisfaction.
Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Licensed forklift truck operator
  • Experience with inventory/shipping a plus

ADA Requirements
  • Medium work:
    Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Reaching:
    Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing:
    Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Walking:
    Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Lifting:
    Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Fingering:
    Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.
  • Grasping:
    Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Talking:
    Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing:
    Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
  • Repetitive motions:
    Making substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Visual Acuity
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • The worker is required to operate motor vehicles and determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
Job Conditions
  • The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions:
    Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions:
    Activities occur inside and outside.
  • The worker is subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
