Position: Registered Nurse  ( RN)- Emergency Services ER/ED Fulltime Night shift

Overview

Night shift (7p–7a) ER RN at Wellstar Health System in Hiram/Dallas, GA. Magnet Designated/Beacon Award recipient for ER excellence with a strong patient safety and patient care focus. Sign on bonus eligible; strong and supportive team environment with 4 STAR CMS scores for patient satisfaction. This role is part of an interdisciplinary team providing individualized, high-quality, safe patient care in a 40-bed Level IV trauma center that is growing.

The RN Clinical Nurse Emergency Department is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers. The practice is administered by Nurse Managers and leaders and supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. Practice is steered by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies derive from these models and are supported by the Wellstar Values.

All RN Clinical Nurses in Emergency Services are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and to uphold nursing practice as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards by the American Nurses Association. The role supports the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures, and service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions

Exemplary Practice and Outcomes

  • Performs the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) in clinical care using evidence-based practice, with individualized care and effective partnerships to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Provides relationship-based patient-centered care aligned with population characteristics, adapting service delivery to reflect cultural diversity.
  • Partners with the patient and significant others using appropriate methods (e.g., bedside shift report; interdisciplinary rounds; just-in-time and planned patient teaching) with patient goals as the focus of the plan of care.
  • Practices using current clinical standards.

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care with inclusive interdisciplinary communication and timely documentation; fosters a respectful, inclusive clinical environment.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner and supports recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
  • Participates and supports performance improvement initiatives, including research utilization, and supports shared governance at all levels.

Professional Development and Initiative

  • Completes initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and mandatory education; population-specific education.
  • Serves as a preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses and staff to ensure a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.

Evidence Based Practice and Research

  • Promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement; participates in value analysis and decision-making processes related to patient care products.
  • Upholds organizational policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, including regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., patient safety goals, safety absolutes).
  • Participates in data collection, formulates clinical questions for advanced evidence-based practice, and consults appropriate experts and resources as needed.

Resources and Support

  • Plans for patient care across the continuum while providing direct patient care.
  • Participates in developing protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers to achieve best practice outcomes (e.g., reduce readmissions, avoidable days, adverse events).
  • Supports efficient and effective use of human and material resources.

Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Required

Minimum Education and Licenses
  • Associates Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) Nursing or Bachelors Nursing - Preferred
  • All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated:
    • BLS – Basic Life Support
    • RN – Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT – Multi-state
    • PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support (or equivalent)
    • TNCC – Trauma Nurse Core Course (or equivalent)
    • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support (or equivalent)
Experience and Skills
  • Minimum 5 years RN experience required
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English; proficient with technology and basic computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; collaborative
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies decisively and respectfully
  • Excellent time management
  • Evidence-based nursing practice and strong critical thinking skills
