Overview

Wellstar Paulding Hospital in Hiram, Georgia is seeking a Full‑time Lead Respiratory Therapist (Shift: Nights).

Work Shift:

Night (United States of America)

Responsibilities
  • Lead the shift and ensure safe patient care by analyzing patient needs and the skill competency level of personnel when making patient assignments.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary communication and planning to ensure timely care delivery including discharge.
  • Communicate with direct supervisor any needs or concerns pertaining to patient care delivery or employee performance.
  • Assist in the evaluation of staff, providing input to Supervisor regarding clinical performance and teamwork.
  • Assign shift workload and preceptors; maintain financial stewardship related to productivity; maintain daily equipment function and calibration.
  • Monitor equipment inventory, location, and utilization to ensure staff have tools and equipment needed to perform their job. Assist in acquiring appropriate staffing levels.
  • Provide clinical assistance to staff as necessary and assist with orientation & training for new employees and student clinical rotations; assist with annual skill competencies; communicate educational needs of staff (e.g., huddles, new equipment or knowledge in‑services for RT staff) and maintain staff education records.
  • Maintain current knowledge related to patient population to deliver the highest standard of care; identify learning needs of the workgroup and communicate needs to the direct leader; promote process improvement and committee participation.
  • Perform rounds on patients to evaluate quality and appropriateness of care, including corrective action when needed, utilizing peer coaching and accountability.
  • Participate in implementation and monitoring of PI, Customer Service, and Safety and Quality initiatives to improve patient care delivery.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all Well Star Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Qualifications
  • Required Minimum Education
  • Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy education program (CoARC or CAAHP) with minimally 20 quarter hours of science. Required
  • Associate's Degree (Must have completed at least 100 credit hours towards B.S degree) Required
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • Required Minimum Experience
  • Current advanced credential with a minimum of two (2) years’ clinical experience to work in all critical care areas (adult ICU, CVICU, BURN, NICU, Emergency Departments - Adult and Pediatric) as it relates to each facility Required
  • Required Minimum Skills

  • Basic Life Support Required
  • BLS Instructor Required
  • BLS Provisional Required
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist Required
  • Registered Pulmonary Function Tech Preferred
  • Adult Critical Care Specialist Preferred
  • Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist Preferred
  • Asthma Educator Specialist Preferred
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Required
  • ACLS Instructor Required
  • ACLS Provisional Required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider Preferred
  • NRP Instructor Preferred
  • NRP Provisional Preferred
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Required
  • Must hold an active GA Respiratory Care Professional License
  • NBRC Credential: RRT, Registered Respiratory Therapist Required
  • One or more NBRC Credentials: ACCS, AE-C, NPS, RPFT (AE-C certifications prior to September 1, 2022 issued by National Asthma Educator Certification Board)
